School Improvement Plan 2020 - 2021

Through our School Improvement Plan we are working positively to maintain our Outstanding Ofsted judgement. 

At Selly Oak Nursery School there is always a continuous drive to improve standards year on year and therefore there is an overall desire to ensure that our Teaching, Learning and Assessment are continually improving. After rigorous self-evaluation, analysis and consultation the following main drivers for this academic year will ensure that the school continues to improve:-

The priorities for the school are as follows:-

OUTCOMES

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in managing feelings and behaviour (86% below at baseline).

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in speaking.

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in writing.

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in people and communities.

To maintain the quality of teaching over time across all areas of learning as consistently good with many elements of outstanding.

To establish the Early Years network for the Selly Oak District

To further strengthen the impact of leadership on standards across the Nursery (Behaviour support for parents / Maths boxes / Speaking and listening skills / EAL children / Mental health and emotional well-being / SEND provision / New EYFS curriculum).

 

QUALITY OF EDUCATION                                                            

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in speaking.

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in writing.

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in people and communities.

To complete and present research on the changes to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, Development Matters and the Early Learning Goals.

To complete and present research on speaking and listening skills which impacts on the environment, resources and activities available to the children.

To assist the teachers with monitoring and developing the indoor / outdoor environment and to help with the preparation of resources.

To complete and present research on EAL children which impacts on the environment, resources and activities available to the children.

To revamp and resource the existing Maths story boxes.

 

BEHAVIOUR AND ATTITUDES

To further embed behavioural support for parents at Nursery.

 

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

To increase the percentage of children achieving better than age related expectations in managing feelings and behaviour.

To complete and present research on children’s mental health and emotional well-being which impacts on the environment, resources and activities available to the children.

 

LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

To further develop budget management across the Nursery

To maintain the quality of teaching over time across all areas of learning as consistently good with many elements of outstanding

  • To establish the Early Years network for the Selly Oak District
