Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Selly Oak Nursery School.

We are very proud of the history of our Nursery School, It was one of the first to be built in the country thanks to the support of the Cadbury family. We remain committed to the vision of George Cadbury in providing high quality care and education.

In January 2012, we became a Local Authority Nursery School. The land and buildings remain in a charitable trust and we have a Board of Trustees who are responsible for ensuring the buildings and land are fit for purpose.

The Nursery is driven by quality as evidenced by our last four Section 5 Ofsted Reports. We have a dedicated highly skilled teaching team including teachers and teaching assistants. All of our staff work hard to meet everyone`s individual needs and to be partners in learning.

We are passionate about teaching and learning based on research and pedagogy. We ensure that our children are engaged in learning experiences that challenge their thinking as well as igniting a thrust for future learning.

We work in partnership with many outside agencies. Our focus on Personal, Social and Emotional Development promotes confident children who are capable of building positive relationships and high self-esteem.

We recognise that in order for children to excel a partnership with parents / carers is absolutely key. There will be many opportunities for you to support your child`s learning and gain a deep understanding of how your child learns.

Selly Oak Nursery School is a great place to work. Each child and family is unique . Every day brings new exciting learning opportunities for us all. We continue to reflect on our school journey and strive to continuously improve what we do.

Ofsted commented: "Governors, staff, parents and carers are unanimous in their view that you persistently drive uncompromising and ambitious improvements. You and all staff are strongly focused on the care and development of each individual child and, as a result, children are at the heart of all you do. The school’s continued success has not happened by chance. You and your deputy headteacher are highly reflective.

"You ensure that staff carefully implement new ideas which help adults and children meet, and overcome, local and national challenges. Together, you are constantly looking for ways to improve even further."

Let your child be part of this special learning journey.
