Head Teacher's Welcome

 Dear Parents and Carers,

Selly Oak Nursery School has an amazing history – it was one of the first Nursery Schools in the UK.  The Nursery evolved due to the vision of the Cadbury family who wanted to provide high quality education and care for the youngest children of their workforce.

The School is held in a charitable trust with the buildings/land managed by a Board of Trustees.  From 2012 a Board of Governors was also introduced.

Our aim is for children to become ambitious, capable learners who are ready to build on what they already know and thus continue their exciting learning journey here and beyond.

We aim to inspire the children to become creative thinkers, with full access to the local environment and community and to the wider world.

We challenge the children to become ethical and informed learners who care about the environments they access.

We encourage our children to be healthy and physically fit citizens in order that they are able to become resilient and confident members of their communities.

The School values the importance of building strong relationships with parents/carers and extended families. We believe the most important influence on children's early development comes from the home, which is why we work closely with families to build solid learning foundations.

Ofsted commented: "Governors, staff, parents and carers are unanimous in their view that you persistently drive uncompromising and ambitious improvements.

“You and all staff are strongly focused on the care and development of each individual child and, as a result, children are at the heart of all you do. The School’s continued success has not happened by chance. You and your Deputy Head Teacher are highly reflective.

"You ensure that staff carefully implement new ideas which help adults and children meet, and overcome, local and national challenges. Together, you are constantly looking for ways to improve even further."

We look forward to welcoming your child to Selly Oak Nursery School.
