World Book Day 2023

Hundreds raised for Earthquake Appeal on World Book Day

CHILDREN and staff raised hundreds of pounds for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria by dressing up for World Book Day.

Parents gave generously on the day and raised £300, which will be donated to UNICEF's Earthquake Appeal.

As a Rights Respecting School, the children have been learning about the right to a home and talked about how many families in Turkey and Syria were left homeless by the disaster.

Meanwhile, staff and pupils wore lots of wonderful costumes to mark World Book Day, with many super heroes, pirates, princesses and Harry Potter's visiting Nursery.

Several children attending the School have family in Turkey and Syria and were delighted with our support.

Parent Merve Ersoy said: "We are originally from Turkey and I would like to say to you a huge thank you for being so kind and thoughtful in organising the Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal.

"When my child becomes an adult, I will remind her what you are doing for the people of Turkey and tell her to be a very proud alumnus of such wonderful teachers and the Nursery! Your support will be remembered forever with appreciation."
